Posted by GPGarry | Posted in Drinks, Festivals, Food Events | Posted on 31-03-2014

When it comes to Key West, culinary culture is king; the small but robust city is a top tourist destination, particularly known for its seafood and fine dining fare. For this reason, the Taste of Key West 19th-annual event going down on Monday, April 14th, 2014, is a great opportunity to experience the best in what Key West has to offer.

The festival, which will take place from 6 to 9 PM on the Truman Waterfront Pier, will include over 50 local restaurants and 100+ wineries and vineyards, with proceeds going to support charitable organization AIDS Help. Admission is free, while food and wine tickets will go for $1 each, with “tastes” being offered up for $3 to $8. There will be commemorative wine glasses available for $6, to be purchased between 5 and 6 PM.

Free shuttle services will be provided by Old Town Trolley Tours, beginning at 5:30 PM at the Pier House, and stopping at multiple popular locations in Key West. There is plenty of free parking at the festival, but it is suggested that festival-goers opt for a safer mode of transportation in consideration of the alcoholic-oriented nature of the proceedings.

There are few better opportunities to experience the best in Key West culture than at Taste of Key West, and the 2014 festival promises to be one of the best yet. You will definitely not want to miss it if you are a culinary enthusiast who will be in the Key West area during the event. For more information on the festival, please check out the official website for Taste Of Key West 2014. We hope to see you there!

The event is being put on by the Rotary Club of Key West, and they expect thousands of people from far and wide to attend this year’s festival. Old Island Days Art Festival Approaches

Posted by GPGarry | Posted in Art Events, Festivals | Posted on 07-02-2014

There are few events in Key West that are as quintessential to the city as the Old Island Days Art Festival, now in its 49th year of existence, and once again this Key West staple art event will be going down this February 22nd and 23rd, 2014.

The two-day juried fine arts festival will take place from 10 AM to 5 PM daily on Whitehead and Caroline Streets in lovely Old Town Key West, and will feature some of the finest sculptors, painters, photographers, collage artists, and more in the US and Canada. There will be over 100 fine artists displaying their best works among such historic and beautiful Key West attractions as The Mel Fisher Museum, the Audubon House, and the Little White House.

The festival is sponsored by the Key West Art Center, and was first held as a fundraiser for the restoration of the center’s building at 301 Front Street. This very same building is still headquarters for the Key West Art Center and over 60 local artist’s works are displayed there. The event has come a long way from its humble beginnings on Front Street where it was first held as a fledgling local artist’s event, and is now a full-blown national art exhibition which shuts down two of Key West’s most culturally rich and beautiful blocks each year.

You can check out the official website for the event for further info, and we hope to see you there! Whether you are a collector of fine art or simply want to check out the festivities, you will be sure to have a good time at what is one of Key West’s best yearly events.

Bike Rentals in Key West

Posted by GPGarry | Posted in General | Posted on 06-12-2013

When it comes to traveling with the intent to get your drink on and have some fun out and about at the local bars and clubs, there is always the dilemma of how to get from point A to point B without getting a DUI (or worse) in the process.

This is one of the factors that makes Key West such a top party travel hotspot, as for one, the island is so small that even by foot it’s not too hard to do some pretty extensive bar-hopping without getting a bunion. The second reason, which really puts Key West over the top is that it is super easy to rent a bike from various different bike rental companies and get around with no sweat at all (or maybe a little sweat, but certainly with less stress on the joints). Yes, some will tell you that drunk biking can be a bit dicey as well, but certainly nothing compared to drunk driving, and as long as you don’t get too sloshed you should be just fine and dandy peddling around the island.

There are various solid options for bike rental in Key West, including Bike Man Bike Rental, Eaton Bikes, Bike Rentals Key West, Island Bicycles, and more. A simple Google search brings back quite a few results and you can call around and find the best option for you based on price, location, and services.

Next time you visit Key West, get around with style and ease by renting a bike and get your drink on worry and walk free.
